Classical statistical methods are generally well suited for analysing numerical data. But methods of processing informal data, such as textual data, which could be: interview transcripts, free questionnaire responses, observational material, etc... are much less well developed. The method presented in this paper allows the analysis of such data in which the structure is arbitrarily complex. The method is based on a concept of linguistics: the systemic network. Such a network combines elementary schemes leading to a general schema which formalizes elements of the structure of a text or discourse. Each particular text to be analysed is an instantiation of a general schema. A computing system, presented here, makes the method utilizable on a computer.
