Issues Related to Teaching Art from a Feminist Point of View

Abstract

In this paper, the author suggests that a social action position be included with other ap proaches that have been advocated to effect desirable changes in theory and practice re lated to teaching from a feminist point of view. Five goals for multicultural education are com pared with three feminist approaches to art teaching. A fourth feminist approach to art teaching that incorporates theories about fem inist aesthetics and social is discussed and women's art from the past and contemporary feminist visions are used to amplify this dis cussion.
