In the following chapter, the innovation cluster of the German automotive components sector will be analysed using the framework outlined in Chapter 2. The first section presents the composition of the sector and provides some statistical information about performance and dynamics of the sector and its position in the German economy. The second part will deal with recent developments in the component supplier sector in response to the fundamental changes in the car manufacturing industry in the 1990s. The third and central part will be dedicated to the innovation cluster, its configuration and operational dynamics. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
