Abstract

As one of the best-selling mainstream texts, the sixth edition of Bowman/Kearney continues to provide comprehensive, up-to-date coverage of state and local institutions, political behaviour and policy-making. Comparative advantages of the text include its strong policy orientation, and its unifying theme of the increased capacity and responsibility of state and local government. One of the major goals of the text is to foster continuing student interest and involvement in state and local politics and policy. The sixth edition is fully updated to reflect the most recent policy responses to the challenges facing today's state and local governments.
