Abstract The Law Enforcement Administration was established in the mid‐1960s and was replaced by other federal funding programs for improving criminal justice in the late 1970s. It incorporated several important and long‐lasting programs such as the Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP) as well as other major initiatives and developmental activities. Finally, it includes retrospective evaluations by persons involved with the planning, development, and management of the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration some 30 years after the program was replaced with other legislation.
