It is not wrong however it will be serious problem toward a certain language continuity. Therefore it is necessary to have language maintenance. Keyword: language, maintenance, shift Abstrak Perkembangan perekonomian dan kemajuan teknologi merupakan faktor utama dalam hal terjadinya pergeseran bahasa. Pergeseran bahasa tersebut bukan hal yang salah, namun kesalahan dalam hal pergeseran makna bisa menjadi ‘boomerang’ terhadap kelestarian bahasa tertentu.
