Abstract Disability as a social phenomenon and citizens with disabilities are often marginalized on economic, cultural, and social grounds in many parts of the world. This is often particularly so for parts of low‐ and middle‐income countries where disability has not been a central part of the development discourse. This entry examines accessibility through an information and communication technology for development (ICT4D) lens and considers how the environment of technology use and the state of access technology (AT) come together to impact on social inclusion.
