This paper attempts to provide knowledge concerning key air freight issues by focusing on the nodes (airports) and links (air cargo companies) involved in international air movements. This approach is particularly valuable for identifying sources of conflict between the two groups; such conflicts have the potential to impair the efficiency of international distribution. Following questions are also addressed: (1) What factors are important and unimportant in airport evaluation?; (2) How are responses to these factors evaluated by airports vis-a-vis air cargo operators?; (3) How do selected contemporary trade issues affect international air freight transportation?; and (4) How are responses to these trade issues perceived by airports vis-a-vis air cargo operators?
