On behalf of the conference organizing committees, we would like to extend our welcome to all of you to Taipei, Taiwan and the Eleventh International Conference on Electronic Commerce (ICEC 2009). As the largest city in Taiwan as well as its economic, political, and cultural center, Taipei is a modern cosmopolitan metropolis with a lively and diversified face, filled with exuberance. We believe you will have an enjoyable stay in Taipei. Since the first conference in 1998, ICEC has become the international platform for researchers and practitioners to exchange research findings and practices on key issues related to e-commerce. We are pleased to see a continuing growth of the ICEC community as one of the leading conferences in e-commerce. We believe this conference will continue to contribute significant and valuable technical and managerial knowledge in the e-commerce domain. Advances and proliferation of e-commerce technologies and applications have dramatically changed organizations, industries, and society. In the recent years, we have witnessed various new business models and e-commerce services that create new industry sectors and redefine relations and processes within and across organizations. Stimulated by the newly emerging service science paradigm, service innovation will become an essential issue for e-commerce research and practices. It is timely for the e-commerce community to investigate service innovations for e-commerce by raising relevant research questions and sharing findings on the related issues. We are excited that the ICEC 2009 program has prominently featured three keynote speeches, 57 paper presentations, two panels, and three tutorials concerning service innovations for e-commerce.
