Abstract

The reference process is characterized in terms of the following six decision making steps: message selection, selection of categories of answer-providing tools, selection of specific answer-providing ti tles, selection of access points within a specific answer-providing title, selection of answer from a specific answer-providing title, and query negotiation and renegotia tion. Instructional modules for each of these steps are described.
