SANTOS, Paulo da Cruz Freire dos. Uma escala para identificar potencial empreendedor. 2008. 364 f. Tese (Doutorado em Engenharia de Producao) Curso de Pos-Graduacao em Engenharia de Producao, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, 2008. It was not found yet a scale, produced in Brazil, easy to be applied, already validated and without restrictions for its use, for helping to identify the entrepreneurial potential in students, for training entrepreneurs or select people who intend to be incubated in a business incubator. The aim of the present paper was the construction of a scale with these characteristics built with psychometrical and statistical techniques (Cronbach alpha and factorial analysis) that can be widely applied in schools, training centers and business incubators. In order to get this aim, scenarios were defined, factors, constructs and items that allowed the elaboration of a questionnaire that, after its submission on a field test, has generated that scale. During the field tests, students, college professors and business owners were interviewed, and classified in two categories: entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs. At the end of entire process, the result was a scale to identify entrepreneurial potential. Additionally, some norms were created for its application and comparison with successful entrepreneurs. The relevance and contribution of this study, besides the construction of a scale for detecting entrepreneurial potential, lies in the methodology applied, where vignettes or scenarios are used in the questionnaire construction, in the proposed metrification and in the identification process of reliability and validity of what was intended to measure. This methodology can be reused by others researchers and helping in the scale production for its application in entrepreneurship or another areas.
