Abstract The World Values Survey (WVS) is an international academic project studying human values, beliefs, norms, self‐descriptions, and other elements of national culture, as well as political attitudes and opinions, across the globe. The scholars who lead the project are mainly interested in the relationships between economic development, cultural change, and political life on all continents. The WVS data have also been widely used by cross‐cultural psychologists, anthropologists, and other social scientists.
