An overview of a course-integrated approach to library instruction which is being used at the University of Florida is presented. Working with teaching faculty through library-classroom partnerships, a systematic program of instruction has been designed to reach each student several times during his/her education. Library instruction modules used in chemistry courses at three levels are described. The entry level module aims to help the students learn how to find scientific information they might want for personal use. The middle level of instruction covers the basic information sources of the subject, and assignments require the students to practice using these resources. At the highest level, advanced literature sources and skills are taught through a course offered for chemistry credit.
