In 1971 a group of students discovered a major rock-art site along the banks of the Tagus (Tejo) river. Within a few years, the area was completely submerged by the water of the Fratel dam. With financial support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, some of these students and their friends photographed and made more than 1700 casts in latex. Some of these casts come recently into our hands. In this paper, we shall discuss different methods tested to record them, the technique that was chosen and how the work is progressing.
