Money Demand in Europe: Evidence from the Past

Abstract

Complementary to the previous chapter, this part of the thesis investigates the monetary conditions on a supra-national level. Europe is regarded as an entity which is subject to both the same economic shocks and the same monetary policy. The general objective of the empirical analysis is to find a good statistical model which may also say something about structural, economically meaningful relationships within the data, and which might also be used for the conduct of monetary policy.
