Developing E-Business Systems & Architectures: A Manager's Guide

Abstract

From the Publisher: Developing E-Business Systems and Architectures is not another book on how the Internet is changing business or about the potential of e-commerce. The authors assume that their readers already understand these things. Rather, it is written for executives and managers of medium to large companies that are considering or arealready engaged in transforming their companies into e-businesses. These companies have huge investments in existing hardware, applications, infrastructure, and employees. Changes in software development practices and new web-based methods and techniques require time to deploy and time to retrain employees. Business models have to be revised and business processes redesigned. New information architectures are needed to tie all of these pieces together. Developing E-Business Systems and Architectures provides managers with an overview of the major concepts of e-business and a roadmap to help them develop a strategic plan of their own. The book focuses on the computer architectures and software development practices that will need to change, and how a company should approach planning for such a transition. Features: The authors, all of whom have previously written bestselling books on e-business, have years of experience in implementing these systems. Focus is on the development of architectures and the re-engineering of IT groups to support the development of distributed, component-based applications.
