This extremely informative article was written by a British radiologist who, at the time of publication, had radiographically examined in detail 113 Egyptian mummies. His knowledge was augmented by that of Warren Dawson, the well-known Egyptologist, and together they interpreted the many radiographic illustrations from the standpoint of medical radiology and Egyptology. The text and the complete captions emphasize the embalming techniques and associated artifacts and skeletal morphology including paleopathology of the subjects. The section on radiographic techniques includes exposure factors for different areas of average mummies with or without the cartonnage in place. This worthwhile project deserves further publication.
