This chapter indicates some reasons why women's voices matter in inter-religious dialogue. As women's voices and experiences are incorporated into inter-religious dialogue, we begin to see a more dynamic construction of “the religions,” which reveals that the project of dialogue stands on a slippery surface, and any gains in understanding may have an unsettling undertow when gender is in view. Rooted in the more original Latin “superfluere” – to overflow – women's voices in interreligious dialogue enact a superfluity that is the uncapturable dynamic at the heart of religions themselves. A look at three different models of inter-religious dialogue namely Parliament Model, Activist Model, and Storytelling Model demonstrates this fluid un-capturability and why women's voices matter in the dialogue of religions.
