A high number of methods for human error identification and human reliability assessment are available. We start by defining the concepts of human error and human reliability. We explain what is meant by human reliability analysis and list the objectives and main steps of such an analysis. Several classification systems for human errors are introduced and discussed. Causes and influencing factors of human errors are highlighted and discussed. We then move on to consider a variety of methods used in the analysis of human reliability, covering task analysis, Human HAZOP, SHERPA, THERP, HEART, and CREAM. Several other methods exist, and some are mentioned briefly.
