Abstract

Midlife and menopause can be a time of searching, transformation, and working on developmental tasks. Women are at risk of having their search and transformation shaped by ageist and sexist images. Groups provide an ideal environment-a personal counterculture-in which to construct diversity-respecting images with which women can identify. In this paper, a short term women's group designed to facilitate the construction of positive images of the woman's aging process is described.
