At present, there are about 180 technology and incubator centres (TICs) in Germany (cf. Figure 23). These accommodate nearly 4,000 innovative enterprises, representing a total of approximately 30,000 jobs. If associated enterprises, and those that have already left the centres, are included, this probably sums up to over 50,000 jobs. The centres house an average of 22 enterprises, with an average workforce of eight employees each. In the new Länder, more than 60 of these centres have been formed since 1990. The network of centres there is thus twice as dense as it is in the old Länder (cf. Schervier/Groß 1993). These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
