and Dr. Allan Burns opened my eyes to a new way of understanding academic work. The good people of Radio XEPET kept my sanity throughout the doctorate. Thinking about them reminded me why I was conducting this type of research in the first place. In Mexico, other friends have given me feedback and provided me with crucial information for this work. I wish to acknowledge the academic contribution and personal friendship of Víctor Canto Ramírez, Angel Díez Mendoza, Antonieta Mercado, José Manuel Ramos Rodríguez, Inés Cornejo Portugal, and Marisol Chan Concha. Many of the ideas were also discussed with my partners in crime of OurMedia, a group of extraordinary people who know that another mediascape is possible.
