Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present the results of a study carried out for the Electric Power Research Institute on dependent events. The results presented cover a broad range of problems in dependent events analysis, including the use of definitions and a means of classifying and categorizing event reports; a data base for system level analyses on selected power plant components; statistical analyses of the frequency of various types of dependent events; their causes and their failure modes; and the use of this information in applied risk and reliability evaluations. This work is an integral part of a comprehensive research program on dependent events sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute. 34 refs., 25 figs., 53 tabs.
