Framework and Conceptual Model for Reconfiguration

Abstract

Reconfiguration is a significant area of after-sales, especially for companies with configurable products. In this paper, the field of reconfiguration is characterised and framework for reconfiguration is presented on the basis of the experiences gathered from Finnish manufacturing companies. Although the state of the practice leaves much room for improvement, reconfiguration is important business in several companies. Based on the framework, an abstract conceptual model for reconfiguration is defined.
