This article describes the results of a pilot study of cognitive activity of junior schoolchildren with learning difficulties, connected with low intellectual readiness for school. The effectiveness of special training classes' organization has been carried out, as well as the informative and amusing materials stimulating children's intellectual activity while teaching literacy.
