Seven Associate Editors have retired from the Series B Editorial Panel this year: Tilmann Gneiting (University of Washington, Seattle, USA), Per Mykland (University of Chicago, USA), Michael Neumann (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Germany), Johan Segers (Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium), Yves Tillé (Université de Neûchatel, Switzerland), David Tyler (Rutgers University, Piscataway, USA) and Darren Wilkinson (University of Newcastle, UK), to whom we are most grateful for their dedicated contribution to keeping the journal at its level of excellence. Six new Associate Editors have been appointed in 2009: Brian Caffo (Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA), Peter Hoff (University of Washington, Seattle, USA), Nicolai Meinshausen (University of Oxford, UK), Dimitris Politis (University of California, San Diego, USA), Eric Slud (University of Maryland, College Park, USA) and Dale Zimmerman (University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA). We welcome these new members of the panel and are as ever full of gratitude to all members of the panel for their fine and unrelenting editorial work. We are grateful also for the vital help of all those who have acted as referees for the journal, as it could not survive without them. Their names will be published in the annual report of the Society. We especially thank the Errol Street staff who are involved in the publication process, Executive Editor of the Royal Statistical Society, Martin Owen, and Editorial Assistant, Charlotte Stovell, for their invaluable help.
