Tourism has been growing in recent years, and it has done so under different terms. In rural areas has meant an alternative to the revitalization of local economies, affected by structural problems. This situation occurs in a context of changes in the social values of rural areas, which are reflected in growing and temporary displacement of population from the city to the countryside. If migrations were due to labour related reasons in the past, nowadays they correspond to holiday trips to villages in the central areas of the country. This means a rediscovery of the countryside. This change in tourism trends is expressed in different ways and realities. Regulated tourism has not only become important but also the second home shows an increasing frequency. This dual dimension of tourism, regulated and not regulated are together in common scenarios, but under realities, processes and different contexts. This essay is a review of the dynamics of these two ranges. Castilla la Mancha is one of the regions where the strength of rural tourism becomes an increasing incidence. Traditionally it has given consideration to the economic fact of tourism, reserving the treatment of residential tourism to coastal areas and suburban. But reality shows that has a great significance in interior spaces, where the motivations are associated with relationships and family relations, in addition to the quality of resources. This idea is linked to the sociological fact by which tourism is involved in the return population.
