This paper describes administrative practice principles for the effective use of management information systems data in making program-level decisions. It is based on the assumption that a properly constructed information system can serve both external accountability requirements and internal administrative needs. This dual use of management information enhances the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the program. Illustrations of this are drawn from the Boysville experience.
