Sexual Assault and Victimization Studies Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Research Child Abuse and Trauma

Abstract

Thirteen young victims of rape were seen, in most instances within 48 hours, by a mental health team. Followup of each revealed a similar sequence of reactions, falling in three distinct phases. Understanding of this pattern permits the design of supportive mental health intervention.
