Abstract

This article aims to provide a comparison of the logics of formal and functional production that governed the compilation of two cartularies from the monastery of Sahagún, with the aim of highlighting the noticeable changes in cartulary production in the kingdom of León and Castile between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries. The article thus aims to offer an insight into the development of the social dynamics in the use and purpose of diplomatic writing over that period.
