Conservation Techniques and Studies Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation Cultural Heritage Materials Analysis

Abstract

Textiles and paper share the same basic constituents and may suffer from similar problems. In the selection of the most appropriate treatments an understanding of the materials and techniques of other disciplines will expand boundaries and give the conservator greater choice. This paper outlines the conservation of a water sensitive textile that needed to be supported for safe handling and display. Drawing on the experience of conservators from textiles and paper conservation the work was carried out with the conservators working closely together using each others experience and knowledge.
