The success of smart grid deployment depends on consumers' acceptance of smart grid products and services. This study tests a model based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) of consumers' acceptance of smart grid technologies. The research model was designed to examine the process by which electrical power consumers accept a smart grid. The results suggest that it is important to increase the perceived usefulness and ease of use in order to enhance consumers' smart grid participation. If the perception of smart grid's usefulness is to increase, smart grid's environmental and economic benefits must be emphasized. It is also important to eliminate unnecessary consumer anxiety concerning cyber security threats.
