A survey was conducted at a recent national neuropsychology meeting to determine which neuropsychological assessment instruments are typically employed in clinical work with children, adults and elderly patients. Respondents were queried regarding their professional experiences and interests, clinical settings, populations served, and neuropsychological test preferences. One hundred thirty three responses were received and analyzed to obtain percentages and frequencies. The most frequently reported single tests were as follows: (1) Use with children-WISC/WISC-R, WRATIWRAT-R and Trailmaking Test; (2) Adults-Category Test, Finger Oscillation and Trailmaking Test; and (3) Elderly-WAISI WAIS-R, Trailmaking Test and the Wechsler Memory Scale. The most often reported formal battery for all three age groups was the Halstead-Reitan. The demographic and professional characteristics of the response sample is also presented.
