Abstract

In many museums, there are more objects in store than on display. Far from regular public scrutiny, their fate is often unenviable. It can even be tragic, as is stressed by the author of this column, who is from the United Kingdom and Director Emeritus of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and the Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), and has many years' experience in museum trouble‐shooting.
