Technology signifies the way we do things. It is the result of our mental processes, which are involved in its conception, realisation and application. However, the driving force behind mental processes is the human spirit, that yearns for a better and easier life. Whether this yearning is always fulfilled is questionable. The results obtained through the activity it generates are not always desirable as the human spirit is weak and the mental processes are far from perfect. However, one thing is certain: as technology is embodied in material artefacts, it serves as the meeting place of the spirit, mind and matter. This paper examines the way these three qualities— generally regarded as exclusive—intermingle during the processes of technology.
