This paper explores poetry as a phenomenological access point to the world of the abused child. In so doing, poetry serves a threefold function: (1) a window into the child's world, (b) a way to track the abused child's progress along the recovery process, and (c) a tool for transforming abused children's world, by allowing them to find their own unique voice. These functions are illustrated through case vignettes.
