This article considers the relation between mega-projects, major urban highway developments and internationalization. A comparative study of th vocabulary of the project is necessary: cityscapes embodied in the projects as well as social visions are examined first. Changes in the mobility design process in various cities in the Middle East, such as Beirut, Cairo and Tehran are outlined. Mega cities illustrate that major infrastructure has a capacity to change social and spatial morphologies on a large scale, andto address slum problems in a destructive manner. The forms of public mobilisation that have arisen as a result of these projects are described. When facing non-democratic forms of decision-making that put their residential stability under pressure and at risk, city dwellers tend to derive new answers to the difficulties they face.
