The paper discusses questions and issues related to the management of business informatics (BInf) economics. Current (2012) methodologies and procedures used for management of business informatics are analysed here with accent on the level of description of BInf processes and application of multidimensional principles. The reference model for managing business informatics economics (RME) reacting to the deficiencies found in the analysis provided is then presented. The model proposed takes into consideration the demands for analysis and management of economic efficiency required in this field by current trends in participation, managerial accounting and business economics, as well as by managers of businesses and BInf. An important benefit of the model lies in extended possibilities of analysis of real profitability of projects, services, etc. and costs and benefits of each BInf employee. The paper is concluded by a discussion of the model implementation issues and their validation in Siemens Information Technology (IT) Solutions and Services.
