The Journal's "Information for Authors," published in the first issue of each volume, begins with this statement: "Manuscripts of Original and Special Articles are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they, or their essential substance, tables or figures, have been neither published in nor submitted to any type of publication circulated to the medical profession." Most journals publishing original investigations have similar policies, some even more stringent.
