In France, the number of partnership dissolutions is rising in all social/professional groups, including farmers. This paper is based on a corpus of twenty judiciary files of divorces involving a male or female farmer between 2009 and 2011. We study how farms can get over divorces. The analysis focuses on disparities between farmers. Divorce judiciary files are a good place to observe the diversity of socio-economic positions of farmers who have uneven economic, social and cultural capitals, to face the event of divorce and its consequences. The article also highlights the fact that family justice does not recognize female domestic partners’ economic contribution to farms. This contribution is not only productive but more and more often financial nowadays. Thus, masculine domination perpetuates itself and contributes to the reproduction of class hierarchies in agriculture.
