Although the use of language is prevalent in much contemporary art, the appearance of the Chinese language at this historic moment is worthy of particular focus and attention. In the West, where the Chinese language is so often taken only as a sign of the exotic, the ways in which Chinese artists are tactically using language can sometimes get lost.
