The instructional consultant role of the School Library Media Specialist (SLMS) (librarian) involves working collaboratively with teachers to develop instructional units. Through this involvement with curriculum and instructional development, the SLMS actively works with teachers systematically to plan, develop, implement and evaluate instructional units, activities and instructional strategies that help meet the needs of students and teachers. This systematic process, called an Instructional Design Plan, is a tool to be used to promote, partnerships and collaboration as well as a plan for successful integration of technology into the curriculum.
