Abstract

M. Le Pape - From 'Native' to 'Informal', 1955-1982. Studies of Third World urban economies have progressively evolved toward a bipolar distribution: on the one hand, an attempt to identify everywhere the empirical characteristics of a single generai System, the 'informai sector'; on the other hand, an explicitation of the various shapes of particular Systems. Unlike those authors who insist upon antinomies, we are undertaking the historicisation of'informai' objects and notions.
