Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the relationship of seven work environment variables in the job satisfaction of school social workers in Iowa, including (1) number of assigned school buildings, (2) whether there had been changes in the role of the school social worker, (3) the number of changes in the work environment, (4) whether respondents had received training for role and work changes, (5) how well prepared respondents perceived they were by their graduate program for the practice of school social work, (6) satisfaction with supervision, and (7) the difference between actual and ideal level of service provision. A model containing six of these variables accounted for 28 percent of the variance in job satisfaction. Recommendations for practice and research are made.
