Abstract

Summary This article chronicles the development and implementation of the John A. Hartford Foundation Geriatric Social Work Initiative-a grantmaking program with total funding of $22 million, as of December, 2001. The Foundation aims to improve the care of older adults by increasing the capacity of social workers to care for them. The article describes a variety of grants to improve the gerontological training of future social workers.
