This article presents a five-year strategic plan for Russell Library, the principal public library for Middletown, Connecticut. The goal of the plan is to make Russell Library “the Bridge to the Future of Middletown and its citizens.” To accomplish that large goal, the planners focus on three service areas: a broad range of resources, including books, electronic items, and databases; an engaged and supportive staff; and many varied and enlightening experiences for Middletown citizens of all ages. The first quarterly report to Middletown residents is included to demonstrate how the library is following its plan.
