The present paper is an attempt to reconsider the well‐known syntactic phenomenon called Ga‐No Conversion from the point of view of case construction. First, the past studies on the syntactic phenomenon are summarized, and two kinds of analyses are proposed: the nominative construction analysis and the genitive construction analysis. Then, nine arguments are given for the genitive construction analysis. It is concluded that though the genitive construction analysis contributes much to the simplification of the grammar, the nominative construction analysis should be adopted because there are serious counterexamples to the genitive construction analysis.
