This study examines the continuing education needs as well as training formats desired which could aid pastors in dealing more effectively with problems relating to management and leadership skills. When questioned about leadership, respondents expressed primary interest in developing lay leaders, personal vision and spiritual resources, and understanding missions and church potential. With regard to management, pastors cited improving strategic planning, staff development, and marketing/communication skills. The respondents preferred the training sessions to be short, 1-3 days, with the information coming from leading pastors as well as other experts and interaction with other pastors. The study concludes that there is a need for additional pastoral education in the fields of management and leadership.
