A 20-item inventory, with adequate internal consistency and reliability, was developed to measure the motivational pressure to complete a task once it was begun. Correlational studies indicated that the task-completer could be described as conscientious and persistent, aware of the social realities, a follower rather than a leader, socially precise, controlled and exacting, relaxed, tranquil, unfrustrated, self-assured, and nonanxious. The inventory was found to have a modest social desirability component and was unrelated to measures of psychopathology.
