In one way or another, I have devoted a good part of my long academic career to studying the interface of social move ments and organizations, sometimes with great impact and sometimes with little. Thus I was very pleased when I learned that ASQ was planning to have a special issue devot ed to examining the interface between social movements and organizations and markets. I was even more pleased when I saw the list of questions that the editors posed as rel evant in their call for papers announcing the special issue (December 2006 ASQ). If all of those questions can be rea sonably answered over the next several decades, the field will be enormously advanced.
